| If you think the Bordeaux classification system is confusing, Chateau La Papeterie is not the vineyard at which to find clarity. Established in 1790, the Chateau is on the crossroads of St. Emilion, Montagne-St. Emilion, Pomerol and Lalande-de-Pomerol. Originally part of the Pomerol appellation, the Chateau was re-classified as Montagne-St. Emilion in 1920. Although the Chateau owners have sometimes been left scratching their heads regarding their appellation, the one thing that has never been confusing is the quality of their wine. Still having much of the characteristics of its Pomerol heritage, this deep red wine is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Red fruit and earthy aromas dominate the nose which is typical of well-made right bank Bordeaux. A relatively rich wine with good tannins, great length and unmistakable class, the 2001 Chateau La Papeterie is lush enough to drink now but can be cellared for 8-10 years. PAP01 PAP01 |
