It exhibits a dense saturated purple color in addition to a big, sweet nose of road tar, smoke, chocolate, blackberries, and creme de cassis. Like most 2001's, it possesses considerable structure as well as high tannin, real delineation, and a full-bodied, powerful finish. It should hit its peak in 4-6 years, and age well for 15+.
